The television ecosystem in India is faced with a unique challenge today. As the number of streaming applications increases and platforms to access the same multiply, the user encounters an increasingly fragmented ecosystem.
There are Smart TVs, DTH services, streaming sticks, and numerous OTT apps. Further, each one has its own individual subscription and billing cycle.
To overcome this, users are increasingly looking at options where all services are integrated.
There have been some experiments in this regard with aggregators like Airtel Xstream Play, OTTplay, DishTV Watcho, TATA Play Binge etc.
But Dish TV has gone a step ahead in coming up with an integrated television ecosystem to make life easier for the Indian viewer.
Dish TV India Ltd has now come up with a service called VZY, which combines live television and streaming platforms into one ecosystem.
The platform aims to solve the problem of fragmentation in the television arena, and simplify discovery of and access to different types of content.
VZY provides two options to the viewers. The first is the VZY Streaming Platform which brings together more than 29 OTT apps, live TV channels, creator content and AVOD programming.
The second option is the VZY Smart TV ecosystem which brings the streaming services and live TV to a Google TV powered QLED 4K Smart TV. These TVs are being positioned as an integrated hardware-software offering.
Speaking on the launch of the service,
