‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’: Jindal Stainless employees come together to celebrate workplace diversity

Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) employees have taken centrestage in a new film inspired by the iconic national integration anthem ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’. The film, released on YouTube on June 3, brings to life the theme of ‘Apni Mitti Apna Rang’.

The campaign showcases employees from different regions, cultures and professional backgrounds across the organisation. In the film, JSL employees recreate the iconic anthem and highlight the diversity that exists within the workplace while underscoring a shared sense of belonging.

The initiative is part of the broader trend among Indian companies that are increasingly coming up with employees-driven storytelling features to showcase workplace culture.

Originally broadcast on Doordarshan on August 15, 1988, ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ was conceived as a celebration of India’s linguistic and cultural diversity. Decades later, the anthem continues to evoke a sense of unity and integrity among Indians.

In the film, employees perform sections of the anthem while representing different languages, traditions and regional identities. The message they wish to convey: individual backgrounds need not be set aside at work; they can contribute to a stronger and more inclusive organisational culture.

The video has attracted nearly 65,000 views since its release, reflecting strong engagement with today’s generation.

Describing the inspiration behind the project, Jindal Stainless said that just as India is a confluence of diverse regions, cultures and traditions, so too is its workforce.

That’s what this film brings to life, set to the iconic yet evergreen tune of Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, an anthem generations of Indians grew up listening to.​ Together, bringing to life the spirit of Apni Mitti Apna Rang,” the company wrote on the video platform.​
