Uber’s Asia-Pacific media mandate will continue to remain with EssenceMediacom, which is owned by WPP. The agency has been managing the Uber account since 2017.
The development follows a competitive regional pitch process, and marks the renewal of a longstanding partnership.
Since getting the account in 2017, EssenceMediacom has played an important role in Uber’s expansion and growth across the APAC region.
The agency handles the ride-hailing and delivery platform’s media mandate in countries including India, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
The Uber account will continue to be managed from Australia and by Maddison Keogh, Client Managing Partner.
Pippa Berlocher of EssenceMediacom stated that they feel pride in continuing to partner with Uber across the APAC region.
Lee Walsh, Global Head of Media at Uber, said that EssenceMediacom turned out to be the best fit following a detailed review process. Walsh added that Uber will continue to depend on the agency’s market expertise, strategic capabilities, and vision for leveraging data, technology and AI for its future growth across the region.
