Abhay Sehgal, a contemporary Indian artist, is taking his surrealist practice to international audiences with a showcase in Dubai and a solo exhibition in San Francisco.

The Dubai showcase, held at Sky View Restaurant, brought together his art practice, ArtBySehgal, and his contemporary streetwear label, CODEBRWN. Art, fashion and Indian cultural influences shared one setting, giving collectors, creatives and design enthusiasts a chance to experience his work outside the conventional gallery space.

After Dubai, Sehgal presented his latest body of work at a solo exhibition in San Francisco, widening his presence in the international contemporary art scene. The exhibition showcased his signature surrealist style, drawing on Indian culture, personal experiences and contemporary visual narratives.

Speaking about the two showcases, Abhay Sehgal says, “Taking the work from India to Dubai and San Francisco feels like an important moment in my journey as an artist. I have always believed that art can travel beyond geography, because emotions and stories are universal. Seeing audiences from different cultural backgrounds experience my work has been incredibly rewarding, and it has made me look at my own practice with a new perspective.”

A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sehgal works across painting, illustration and mixed media. His practice combines surreal imagery, cultural references and themes of identity and the subconscious.

With Dubai and San Francisco marking two distinct international chapters, Sehgal continues to explore how Indian visual narratives can evolve, travel and find new interpretations among global creative communities.
