During a PowerTalk at CII Big Picture Summit 2025, Prime Video India’s Head of Originals talked about the next big opportunity in streaming, pitfalls to look for when pitching, while highlighting the service’s stellar growth over the years

At the recently concluded CII Big Picture Summit 2025, CII’s flagship event for India’s Media & Entertainment sector, Prime Video India’s senior leadership, Nikhil Madhok, director and head of Originals, took the stage for a PowerTalk titled “Prime Video and the Next Frontier of India’s Entertainment Revolution.” In a wide-ranging conversation with seasoned journalist Suhani Singh, Deputy Editor, India Today Magazine, Nikhil reflected on the evolving streaming landscape, scoping out the stories and genres currently missing, while highlighting Prime Video’s commitment to authentic storytelling, and new creative voices. He also highlighted the service’s continuous growth across India’s vast and highly diverse market and the key drivers propelling its success.

Underlining Prime Video’s growth trajectory in India since the inception of streaming in the country to now, Nikhil said, “This is probably the phase of the maximum amount of growth that we (Prime Video) have been seeing, and there are several signals to that – in the last one year, nearly 25% of the people who streamed content on Prime Video have been completely new to the service. Second, the number of shows, movies, unscripted shows, and regional content, that we are going to greenlight or have greenlit, and going to launch over the next 12 to 18 months, is the highest ever that we have done since our inception in India. We have over 100 Originals in various stages of negotiation, development, and production. Not just that, we have also started producing films for theatrical premieres. And we are also experimenting a lot with genres.”

When questioned about the genres that work and how streaming in its early days was dominated by crime thrillers, Nikhil spoke about the significant creative shifts underway. He noted that young audiences have always consumed a wide range of genres, but the creators earlier found thrillers easier to structure for binge viewing. Over time, however, greater confidence has enabled more layered and emotionally resonant storytelling. He added that audiences are embracing stories with deeper themes. “You may forget a show or plot, but you won’t forget how that show or story made you feel,” he said. Giving examples of Original series such as Panchayat, Gram Chikitsalay, and Dupahiya, he also highlighted the resurgence of rooted Indian narratives, as well as the rise of female-led, female-oriented stories like Khauf. More than 80% of Prime Video’s originals in development and production have women at HOD positions, and 60% feature women in the writers’ rooms.

On being asked about Prime Video’s greenlighting process, Nikhil offered an open look into the process. He noted that while the service receives 500–600 pitches a month, only a limited number can move forward, not because the service is not open to ideas, but because of the sheer volume and the need to consider factors such as whether a story is unique, if something similar is already done earlier or in development, whether it aligns with broader content strategy . He emphasized that what stands out most are passionate ideas backed by conviction, clear storytelling intent, and the hard work creators put into developing their vision. Khauf and Dupahiya are some of the examples of successful shows driven by first-time showrunners/creators who approached Prime Video with clarity and deeply developed story worlds. What does not work – pitches driven solely by a desire to fit a brief rather than a genuine creative urge, noting that when a creator asks, “Aapka brief kya hai? Uss hisaab se hum content pitch kar denge,” (“what is your brief; we will tailor our pitch as per the same”) it signals a lack of conviction—not the passion and ownership Prime Video looks for.

Nikhil challenged the misconception that stories need star power to be greenlit, stating, “We are not looking to cast big names, we’re looking to cast great talent,” he said, citing examples such as Mirzapur, where the entire cast rose to stardom through their performance, or Khauf, which featured several newcomers. He also highlighted how independent stories and creators continue to thrive on the service, mentioning titles such as Stolen, In Transit, and Girls Will Be Girls, to name a few.

Responding to Suhani’s question on how Prime Video continues to develop big franchises such as The Family Man, Paatal Lok, Panchayat, and Mirzapur, Nikhil emphasized the rigour behind sustaining successful IPs. “Creating a successful tentpole IP is difficult, but I think it’s even tougher to sustain it and make it grow,” he noted stating that in many cases, new seasons have brought in three to four times the audience of earlier seasons. The Family Man is a recent example – Season 3 of the franchise shattered records by becoming Prime Video India’s most watched series of 2025, marking the strongest opening for the franchise, surpassing benchmarks set by the show’s previous two seasons. More than 60% of fiction shows at Prime Video have gone into multiple seasons or have new seasons under development. He also highlighted how audiences are embracing new IPs, citing examples of successful first seasons of original series such as Call Me Bae, Dupahiya, and Khauf, which have led to second seasons being put into development. In the unscripted space, new IPs such as reality series The Traitors and Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle have also received great response from audiences.

But the streaming space in India is buzzing with a lot of untapped creative potential and stories that are just waiting to be explored, he noted. “That’s the beauty of storytelling. But if I were to name one thing, I think we haven’t told a great story of a true-blue Indian superhero,” he concluded, “This is not something we’re trying to adapt from the west. We have such a fantastic culture, such great mythology, can we create our own homegrown superhero on streaming? And that becomes the next big thing that inspires people!”

In its debut season the talk show emerged as a breakout hit, reaching over 93% of the pincodes in India and claiming the crown of Prime Video’s most watched unscripted series. Hosted by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna and produced by Banijay Asia, the talk show featured some of the biggest Bollywood celebrities, including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar, and more, during the regular season, and topped it with a special episode featuring cricket World Cup champions Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma. Streaming in India and across 240+ countries and territories worldwide, Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle was one of the most talked about shows, thus cementing its position as Prime Video’s most successful unscripted series.

“The overwhelming response to Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle is a testament to the refreshing new perspective it has brought to talk shows, making it Prime Video’s most-watched unscripted series to date,” said Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video, India. “What sets the show apart is our phenomenal pairing of hosts, who have been unabashedly candid, unapologetic and unfiltered. Their effortless chemistry with each other and with the celebrity guests sparked nationwide discussions, spotlighted strong and diverse points of view making it a truly buzzy show.”

“Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle became a phenomenon because it delivered the one thing audiences crave today—unfiltered and witty conversations. From the moment Kajol and Twinkle came together, we knew their dynamics would spark something special, but the scale of the buzz and the cultural conversation it created exceeded every expectation. Partnering with Prime Video amplified that energy—together, we delivered their most-watched unscripted series, truly binge-worthy and impossible to ignore,” said Mrinalini Jain, Group Chief Development Officer, Banijay Asia & Endemol Shine India

Twinkle Khanna said, “In essence, Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle is about friends coming together in a safe space that feels like home where they can be their natural selves, speak their minds, and reminisce about stories that would otherwise live only in their memories. The revelations and candor are the heartbeat of our show, and it’s extremely heartening to see it reach audiences in every corner, garnering attention and love, and igniting conversations around the viewpoints expressed on the show.”

“For most of my career, I’ve been on the receiving end of interviews as the one answering questions. Sitting on the other side of the couch for Two Much felt wonderfully refreshing, especially with Twinkle as the co-host, who is genuinely one of the funniest and sharpest women I know. It was super special to have the guests bring their unfiltered energy, letting the world into sides of themselves they rarely show,” added Kajol.

In a highly engaging deep dive session on “How Stolen broke the mould and became a landmark for independent filmmakers”, Manish Menghani, director and head of content acquisition at Prime Video India, spoke about why Prime Video choose to bet big on Stolen. He also emphasized how the movie has the potential to set an extraordinary benchmark for aspiring film makers at the 56th International Film Festival of India

Conversation focused on the key factors that contributed to the global success of Stolen, highlighting its remarkable ability to transcend borders and connect with viewers worldwide

MUMBAI, India—November 25, 2025—Prime Video, India’s most-loved entertainment destination, participated in a highly engaging deep dive session on “How Stolen broke the mould and became a landmark for independent filmmakers,” at the prestigious 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The session featured Abhishek Banerjee, actor; Karan Tejpal, writer and director; Gaurav Dhingra, producer and Manish Menghani, director and head of content acquisition at Prime Video India, and was moderated by Divyansh Jain, producer/director.

The conversation started with Divyansh asking Karan about what made him so sure that he wanted to tell this story? Karan said, “Stolen is based on several true incidents in India. We amalgamated these events to tell a single narrative. The idea stemmed from the phenomenon of “WhatsApp lynchings” between 2015 and 2020, where innocent people were wrongfully accused of being child kidnappers, brutalised, and killed across the country, except in a few Himalayan states. One incident in Assam caught my attention—two young men were killed by a mob after being falsely accused. What disturbed me most was not just the brutality, but the reactions of unseen people in the videos, who were laughing and seemed to enjoy the violence. This stayed with me, especially since I often travel to remote places in India with friends, and it was shocking that such events could happen here without justice. I delved into this subject to understand why these incidents occurred and what was driving them. That’s how it all began.”

Asked to shed light on why Prime Video chose Stolen, Manish spoke about how deeply Stolen aligns with the streaming service’s content tenants. Manish said, “We don’t look at films as big or small, or as commercial versus non-commercial — that’s never been the lens. At the heart of everything we do is a simple question: is this a story that must be told, and must be told now? That’s the real compass guiding our choices.” He added that the film’s journey began long before audiences ever saw the title. “It began with a creator’s vision — and the courage to pursue it. This isn’t a conventional story. It’s one that confronts you, unsettles you, makes you sit with difficult emotions. It refuses to be boxed into a single genre. It isn’t just a thriller, or action, or drama — it is something far deeper. What makes it powerful is how rooted it is — in its characters, its talent, its truths, and the place it emerges from. There is a rawness and relatability that connects with audiences in ways that feel honest and immediate.”

He went on to add, “Another reason was superlative execution. If you watch the film, it comes very close to global standards. The cast delivered powerful, lived-in performances, each one playing their character to their truest form. And that is what made the movie truly immersive. To me, it did not feel like I am watching a film. It really made me feel like somebody is telling me a story. It is so compelling that I cannot take my eyes off the screen. Ultimately, it all comes down to one thing: the creators backed their creative conviction all the way to completion, which is truly rare.”

Abhishek explained how the process of filming long takes in Stolen differed from other films, specifically from the perspective of an actor working in front of the camera. He said, “While acting in the scenes, I also had to focus on facing the camera, ensuring other actors weren’t masked, all while driving. I was basically managing everything at once, which was the toughest part for me. Besides that, we did numerous rehearsals. For complex scenes like the station sequence, which was a long take, we had multiple lessons and rehearsed with all actors, props, and borrowed items like suitcases. We wanted everything to look as real as possible. Shubham and I would rehearse scenes repeatedly, so when we filmed those long takes, there was no need to cut. This experience really taught me the value of thorough rehearsal, which is quite different from my previous film projects.”

When asked about the legacy of the film and how it will be remembered a few decades from now, Karan said, “It is like a time capsule of our country that can be watched even 30 years later to understand what was happening.”

Manish spoke about the fact that Stolen was a deeply uncomfortable film about deeply personal choices that two brothers face. It is the uncomfortable choice between walking away from a dire situation or getting involved, despite personal risk. Its powerful storytelling compels audiences to reflect on their own decisions, making it a deeply thought-provoking experience that will resonate even decades later.

Responding to an audience question about what convinces him to support a story, Manish said, “For me, it begins with conviction. What makes me believe in a story is first understanding how deeply you believe in it. Stolen is a perfect example — the creators went ahead and made the film. I’m certain they heard countless questions and doubts along the way: ‘It’s too expensive, “Why now?’ or ‘Why not wait for funding?’ Yet they pushed forward and found a way to bring their vision to life. That unwavering creative conviction, the willingness to back yourself — is critical.” He continued, “The second thing we look at is the breadth of the story — how many people might genuinely want to watch it. It isn’t about distribution strategy or how much we push it; it’s about pull. We need to believe that the story will attract audiences. That comes from truly understanding the viewer, knowing what resonates and what doesn’t, and applying that insight with intention”.

When an audience member asked Gaurav about the logistics of making a film with visual quality suitable for distribution at film festivals, Gaurav said, “Producing is not just about making a film, it’s about deciding where to allocate funds and what to prioritise for the film’s value. Integrity is key; you must protect the vision you and your collaborators have created. Protecting this vision is essential. Securing funding and investors is another matter, but the main point is to consistently evaluate what is valuable to your project and make decisions accordingly.”

When asked what advice he would offer aspiring filmmakers, Manish shared, “The first and most important thing is having a creative vision — your own distinct voice, and the conviction to protect it no matter what. The second is flawless execution. Audiences today have far more exposure than they did ten years ago, and anything you release will instantly be compared to global benchmarks. While creating, you must ask yourself: Am I making something that can stand on the world stage? That’s the moonshot. The third pillar is building an exceptional team. And finally, never forget that the business of cinema is just as critical as the creative spark that first brings people together around a story. The story isn’t the finish line — it’s the starting point. The same passion present in that first moment of ideation must carry through all the way to distribution and exhibition”.

Prime Video’s participation at IFFI is a testament of the pivotal role video streaming sector is playing in enabling the growth of India’s creative economy and acting as a robust platform to showcase Indian stories, talent, and creators in the global arena.

Over the years, IFFI has established itself as a melting pot of myriad rich cultures and cinematic excellence, as it brings the world’s most outstanding films and shows, as well as stellar creators, talent, and storytellers together under one roof. As one of Asia’s oldest film festivals, it celebrates the rich cinematic excellence, creativity, and innovation that embodies the rich and vast entertainment ecosystem within India and from around the world.

At a fireside chat at FICCI FRAMES 2025, Prime Video India’s senior leadership discussed key drivers behind Indian content’s growing popularity globally, while shedding light on the service’s growth in India, as well as plans to continue investing in long term growth and innovation, and more

In a highly engaging fireside chat at FICCI FRAMES 2025, India’s leading media and entertainment conclave, Prime Video India’s senior leadership delved into the growing global popularity of Indian content, and the service’s plans to deepen its engagement with customers even further in India and beyond. Themed “Made in India: I-Dramas — Are Our Stories Ready to Travel Across Borders?”, the session featured Shilangi Mukherji, director & head of SVOD business, Prime Video, India, and Nikhil Madhok, director & head of Originals, Prime Video, India, in conversation with renowned journalist and National Editor, Fortune India, Ajita Shashidhar.

Underlining the global ascent of Indian content, the Prime Video heads revealed that Indian content was trending in top 10 on the service worldwide every single week in 2024. “In fact, nearly 25% of the viewership for Indian content on Prime Video comes from outside India,” mentioned Nikhil Madhok signifying how stories have become a window into India’s evolving identity.

Sharing his thoughts on what makes Indian stories travel outside the country, Nikhil spoke about how original, rooted authentic stories travel beyond Indian shores, “What we have learnt is that imitation will not take you far; what travels well is originality and authenticity. For our content to be loved the world over, we must stay true to what we do best. Our shows and movies compete with the finest content internationally, and the way we differentiate our content is by being original and authentic. While the quality of storytelling the craft, the investment in production must meet international standards, it is that rooted authenticity which truly matters. We encourage creators to write for local audiences first, be as authentic to the world that they’re creating, the characters that they’re creating.”

Shilangi Mukherji threw light on Prime Video’s efforts to ensure that local authentic stories reach diverse, multi-lingual audiences not just in India but around the world. “We create stories that surprise and delight our customers and ultimately offer something that customers can relate to. Through localisation, we also cater to audiences who are not of Indian origin or do not understand Indian languages.” These localisation attempts have also helped make Indian content truly pan-Indian as almost 60% of the customers on Prime Video India stream content in 4 or more Indian languages.

Talking about how Prime Video developed original programming from scratch in India, Nikhil explained, “We had to build this initiative from the ground up -identifying creators and writers and training them to develop long-form original series. Our journey began with seasoned filmmakers who were taking their first steps into streaming. This new and exciting long form format allowed us to experiment with different styles of storytelling and to take stories to a global audience. The journey has played out quite well for us, whether you look at The Family Man, Mirzapur, Made in Heaven, Panchayat, Call Me Bae, or Paatal Lok, they are some of the most loved franchises on streaming and we are grateful to be the home for these remarkable stories. Over time, these franchises, among others, have become quite successful. More than 60% of our fiction shows have gone into multiple seasons or their new seasons are under development—a very healthy success rate.”

Nikhil added that along with working with experienced filmmakers, Prime Video also works with fresh voices, new talent, both in-front and behind the scenes, sharing, “We are now witnessing a fresh wave of new voices and emerging talent joining us on this journey. Take Dupahiya, for example, which premiered earlier this year. Created by first-time creators and writers and featuring an ensemble cast, the show was so successful that we announced a second season within a few weeks of its launch.”

Talking about Prime Video’s growth in India, Shilangi emphasized on the service’s focus on expanding selection, choice and access for customers, and the role this has played in helping the service gain a deeper footprint in India. Talking about selection and choice, Shilangi said, “The Indian slate is pretty much the biggest slate outside of the U.S. It’s massive, and it’s across languages.” With 100 Originals in various stages of production, development and negotiation, Prime Video’s pipeline going forward is significant in scale and ambition. Shilangi also spoke about how Prime Video as an entertainment destination expands selection and choice for its customers, whether its Originals and licensed content on the SVOD service or through partnerships with other streamers through its video entertainment marketplace. “The only way for the streaming industry to be really inclusive is by bringing partners on board,” she added, referring to 25+ Indian and international add-on subscription partners offering 75,000+ hours of additional content selection on Prime Video, as well as the 8500+ titles available through its Movie Rentals offering making it the biggest movie rental catalogue in the country. Highlighting the success of its video entertainment marketplace, Shilangi added, “We’re seeing that 60% of our movie rental catalogue is rented every month, and we receive rental transactions from customers from 95% of pin codes in India.”

Shilangi also highlighted Prime Video’s segmentation strategy across product, content, and distribution to improve access. Through worldwide-first innovations like Prime Lite, expansion of the Prime program to offer different tiers at different price points to cater to different customer segments, Prime Video Mobile Edition annual plan for India’s mobile-first customers, Prime Video makes high-quality entertainment accessible to an even wider customer base. Prime Video also programs in 10 languages in India through Originals as well as licensed content, with localization through subtitles and dubbing in multiple languages. The service has a multi-pronged film strategy comprising licensed post-theatrical, direct-to-service movies, Original movies, and co-productions that have premiered first in theatres. Further, Prime Video is one of the only streaming services do theatrical distribution both within India and globally. Summarizing the impact of its strategy in India, Shilangi said, “All of this put together, what it does for us is that we receive viewership from 99% of pin codes in India. We continue to see strong adoption of Prime Video in India, as in the last twelve months, nearly 25% of our streamers have been completely new to the service.”

Discussing how Prime Video’s theatrical and streaming model can help make Indian content a global phenomenon, Nikhil said, “While our core business is streaming, we really believe in the theatrical window and the magic of theatres. And depending on the kind of movie that we are producing, we take a joint call with our creators in terms of which movie can go to theatres first.” Starting 2026, Prime Video will premiere 3 to 4 local Indian films from Amazon MGM Studios in theatres every year. He added that creators find this model particularly exciting because Prime Video backs passionate filmmakers with great stories, ensuring their movies get made—whether for theatrical release or for streaming.

When asked how India could ensure that more of its content resonates globally, especially when compared to countries like South Korea or Turkey, Shilangi emphasized the need for the industry to come together to create meaningful change. She noted that while India is known for strong storytelling, there is still work to be done in presenting its content more effectively to international audiences. One of the key factors for driving global success, she explained, is intentional localization by investing in adapting content for different regions from the very beginning rather than treating it as an afterthought. Concluding the conversation, Nikhil said that while the industry continues to see encouraging signs, global breakthroughs are often hard to predict. He explained that all it takes is one standout story to spark wider recognition and inspire creators everywhere, “We have seen green shoots on the surface of all our Original content.”

The schedule includes action-packed test matches, ODIs, and T20Is as New Zealand face off against Australia, England, West Indies, Zimbabwe, and South Africa between October 2025 and March 2026

The season kicks off with the Black Caps facing Australia in a three-match T20I series starting October 1

MUMBAI, INDIA—September 25, 2025—Prime Video, India’s most loved entertainment destination, is gearing up for a blockbuster cricketing season. The streaming service today announced that it will live-stream matches from New Zealand’s 2025-26 home season. From October 1, 2025, through March 2026, Prime members in India will be able to watch the men’s and women’s team, in action across all formats — Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Expect high stakes clashes with Black Caps hosting Australia, England, West Indies, and South Africa, while the White Ferns face Zimbabwe and South Africa in what promises to be one of New Zealand’s most action-packed home summers in recent years.

This season kicks off with Black Caps hosting Australia in a fiery three-match T20I series from 1st to 4th October. The three lions, England, follow soon after with a white-ball showdown featuring three T20Is and three ODIs, between 18th October and 1st November. The action ramps up in November as the West Indies arrive for a full tour – five T20Is, three ODIs and three Tests – running from 5th November to 18th December. In March 2026, South Africa touch down for an action-packed five-match T20I series, with several games scheduled as double-headers alongside women’s fixtures. Adding to the excitement, the White Ferns take on Zimbabwe Women for the very first time, meeting them in three T20Is and three ODIs between February and early March 2026. In all, the summer will play out across nine of New Zealand’s most iconic venues, delivering non-stop cricketing drama.

Fans can look forward to seeing top international stars in action, including Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner from the Black Caps. Australia’s squad features Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Josh Inglis, while the West Indies bring rising names like Roston Chase and Jomel Warrican. Current WTC champions South Africa will be led by Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma at the T20I and ODI series. On the women’s side, the White Ferns are led by captain Sophie Devine; Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza from Zimbabwe, while Laura Wolvaardt will represent South Africa. With a packed schedule, historic firsts, and high-stakes rivalries, Prime Video brings Indian cricket fans front-row access to a season that promises both intensity and spectacle.
Ahead of the series launch, Prime Video and Coolberg are bringing the series’ signature concoction to life with the refreshing Coolberg Jugaaro Lemon-Ginger non-alcoholic malt beverage. In a remarkable parallel, Coolberg – India’s No.1 non-alcoholic beer brand – is led by three ambitious women, Salloni Ghodawat, CEO, Yashika Keswani, Co-Founder, and Ritika Agrawal, Brand Lead.

This landmark integration between the digital streaming and F&B industries redefines how brands connect with new-age audiences. With India housing over 116 million Gen Z consumers (Mintel Report), the rise of mindful drinking is shaping beverage trends, and Coolberg is at the forefront of this cultural shift.

The story of Coolberg, the flagship brand of Ghodawat Consumer Limited (GCL), is deeply tied to the vision of crafting a premium, alcohol-free alternative for Indian consumers. Today, under the leadership of Salloni Ghodawat, CEO of GCL, Coolberg – along with To Be Honest (100% real fruits and vegetables snack brand), another youth-focused startup acquired by GCL – is resonating strongly with Gen Z and millennials. Together, these brands are rewriting the FMCG playbook with inclusivity, innovation, and bold choices.

The collaboration with Prime Video bridges on-screen storytelling with an off-screen innovation. Just like the series’ protagonists who fight against the odds, Coolberg’s leadership team – including Salloni Ghodawat, Yashika Keswani, and Ritika Agrawal – embodies the same spirit of challenging conventions and building iconic lifestyle brands.

Speaking on the collaboration, Salloni Ghodawat, CEO, Ghodawat Consumer Limited (GCL), stated, “At Ghodawat Consumer Limited, we believe great brands are built on stories of resilience and inclusivity. Coolberg’s journey, much like the series Do You Wanna Partner, is about women breaking barriers and shaping new possibilities in the industry. With Coolberg Jugaaro, we want to offer not just a refreshing product but also a reminder that the future of FMCG belongs to diverse voices and fearless ideas.”

The limited-edition Coolberg Jugaaro Lemon Ginger will be available across 3500+ GT stores, 50 MT outlets (including Nature’s Basket, Walmart, STAR Localmart, and 7- Eleven), 800+ HoReCa destinations (Absolute BBQ, BBQ Nation, Wow Momo), and leading quick commerce platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy.

Set against the vibrant chaos of urban life, the series captures the duo’s journey to carve a niche in the male-dominated world of craft beer. As they defy norms, bend rules, navigate eccentric encounters, and brew their destiny with style, tenacity, and a whole lot of jugaad, Do You Wanna Partner serves up a sharp yet heartwarming portrait of female ambition and agency. With its offbeat yet heartwarming storytelling, the series captures the highs, lows, and beautiful mess of building something from scratch.

Produced under the banner of Dharmatic Entertainment, the fun and light-hearted series is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta, executive produced by Somen Mishra and Archit Kumar, and directed by Collin D’Cunha and Kumar. Do You Wanna Partner is written by Nandini Gupta, Aarsh Vora and Mithun Gangopadhyay, and created by Gangopadhyay and Nishant Nayak. Doubling down on its commitment to offer the best of Indian entertainment to audiences globally, these films will be available to Prime members on Prime Video across 240+ countries and territories, shortly after their theatrical release.

The new post-theatrical licensing slate makes Prime Video the exclusive home to films from Maddock’s much-loved and celebrated horror-comedy universe premiering theatrically between 2025 and 2027. This includes Thama, in addition to two other titles in this franchise that will be announced soon. With Stree 2, the last blockbuster film from Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, Prime Video not only delivered one of the biggest hits on streaming globally but was also able to cultivate fandom for the movie far beyond its theatrical release.

The slate also includes the highly anticipated Sidharth Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Param Sundari that premieres in theatres on 29th August 2025 as well as Shiddat 2 and Badlapur 2, expansions of two highly successful franchises. The broader licensing collaboration also includes the Sriram Raghavan-directed Ikkis starring Agastya Nanda, in addition to several other films to be announced soon.

The collaboration reinforces the longstanding relationship between Prime Video and Maddock Films, following a history of bringing highly popular global blockbusters such as Stree 2, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Stree and many more to the service, in addition to the super-successful co-production Bhool Chuk Maaf that premiered first in theatres before coming on Prime Video, and Original series Jee Karda.

Dinesh Vijan, CEO & founder, Maddock Films, said, “We’ve always believed in telling stories that surprise, entertain, and resonate—and in working with partners who share that belief. Prime Video has consistently championed cinema that transcends languages, geographies, and formats. From our horror-comedy universe to our most beloved franchises, our endeavour has always been to create worlds that audiences love to revisit. This strategic long-term post-theatrical licensing deal is a natural extension of our shared vision: to take Indian storytelling to a truly global stage. We’re excited that these films will now continue their journey beyond theatres on Prime Video, reaching an even wider audience across the world.”

“We are thrilled to expand our strategic collaboration with Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films to continue delivering on our promise of bringing compelling stories to audiences across the world. This multi-film slate not only builds on the unique and wildly popular horror-comedy universe and franchise sequels but also brings in a distinctive blend of creative originality and fresh storytelling that is synonymous with Maddock. We look forward to entertaining our customers with the post-theatrical premieres of some of India’s most eagerly awaited films,” said Manish Menghani, director & head of content licensing, Prime Video, India. “At Prime Video, we have consistently worked towards expanding the reach of Indian movies, not just deep within India but also globally by taking them to geographies much beyond the scope of other mediums.”
